Time to consider alternative sources of energy ... we had the alarm on snooze, but now we have to wake up.

Currently it is becoming abundantly clear that this planet is changing, for better or for worse, because humanity has set out to take advantage of what seemed like endless resources, for the betterment of our species, or in some cases, for the short-term advantage of individuals or groups of human beings.
I have a lifelong belief in reincarnation. Some say that makes things easier, but I think it means whatever we do now, we will reap the consequences in the future, when we come back as our own great-grandchildren*.
I also believe that the Higher Self (known by many names) gives each person experiences which ultimately deepen that person's wisdom and understanding, make that person strong and flexible, so that each incarnation, we are more able to live in a way that increases our Inner Light so that we can give a better and better example to others, as well as teaching us to give our support to others.
During this period of time, let's say the last 250 years, we have been realizing more and more that we live on a sphere, and there are limits to what we can do. Humanity is coming to the realization of our stewardship of the planet. The experiences we are having are measured to give us the gradual understanding and wisdom we need to take care of ourselves, the other creatures who live with us, and the earth, sky, waters and energies we have at our disposal.
As with an individual, the most painful experiences teach us the most. The current cycle of volcanic and quake activity, tsunamis, oil spills, storms and so forth, are giving us more and more the awareness we need to grow into our true place in the Universe, which is as the gardeners of this paradise.
*Meaning the great-grandchildren of this generation, not specifically one's own family.

On our vacation, aka the Whirlwind Pacific Northwest Tour for Nut Jobs, we spent time with three very different, but all amazing, women:
1. Betsy B. (you KNOW who you are!)
1. Betsy B. (you KNOW who you are!)
My Real Life sister, a true bohemian, has a small, cozy apartment filled with art and artifacts. She has one room dedicated to her profession, massage therapy. In there she has tatami mats arranged so that the massage table is on top of them. When you walk barefoot on them, they give gently underfoot. There were also strings of different sorts of lights in various places, lots of soft color, and plenty of wonderful paintings.
BB has some plaster paintings she did (3D) of Michelangelo paintings, including one of Eve and the Serpent, which are sensual and delicately colored.
2. Tish S.
One of my best Childhood Friends, Tish lives in a nice house filled with patterns (even the bathroom fixtures had plant imagery twining over it), warmth and love. The love was palpable, and her gentle spirit had created a family paradise.
3. Osprey T.
We had quite an adventure trying to find Osprey's house. We decided we would bring sandwiches. We had to try three delis before we found the Fifth Avenue Sandwich Shop. Whew! Got Sammiches!
We drove up to Os's lake, and wandered around trying to find her driveway, unsuccessfully. This woman is Hidden! Finally, we entered her beautiful, white-walled and white-carpeted house, saw her really gorgeous paintings, and her laughing face.
I hope I can see these women again some time soon, because none of the visits were nearly long enough. Each of these friends has created a beautiful space to live in, and each has contributed to our culture and gives service to others. They have inspired me to do more art, give more time and energy to family, and live a bit more casually.

When I travel, I frequently buy books, then put them down somewhere at home and forget to finish them or take them on the next trip. In the case of this book, Little Green Men, I took it along on our vacation and finished it.
Christopher Buckley wrote Thank You for Smoking, which was made into a movie. I enjoyed that, and found this one hard to put down, even when I wanted to sleep.
The premise is that the US government has been faking the UFO sightings and alien encounters. Beyond that it becomes amazingly and amusingly complex.

The ancients had four elements, as most of us know:
PLUS The Quintessence, or Spirit, Consciousness, Higher Awareness. The Quintessence (referred to as Q from now on) was designed to rule the lower elements. We need to use our *Q* factor to solve our increasing energy needs as a planet.
Fire is one of our favorite energy sources. How about using that flaming pizza in the sky to get more of it? SOLAR!
Then there is the fickle but mighty power of Air ... WIND!
and finally, the humble, patient Earth ... GEOTHERMAL! (Not to mention building dwellings down in the earth, or into the sides of hills.)
